Tryenabling Loudness Equalization in windows, that somewhat fixed the issue for me. The "fix" on GBATemp doesnt really fix it, it just increases the overall volume, BUT it has bad dynamic range so sounds in the middle of the screen are imperceptible. The Loudness Eq fixed that.
